Fun Finance Learning with Standard Chartered Bank Volunteer Mentors

19 June 2026

Jakarta, June 8, 2026 – Job preparation isn’t limited to learning the technical skills required to enter an industry. Essential knowledge, such as how to manage your finances and savings after your first paycheck, and how to protect your financial data, is also crucial for young workers.

Drawing from this background, a team of Standard Chartered Bank Indonesia volunteers held a mentoring class titled “Essential Financial Practices: Managing Money, Investing, AML (anti-money laundering), and Data Protection” on Monday (June 8, 2026). The event, held in the Sudirman area of South Jakarta, was attended by six staff member-mentors from various Standard Chartered Bank departments, as well as 10 participants of entrepreneurship and employment programs supported by Standard Chartered Foundation in Indonesia.

During the session, five participants from the Futuremakers Youth Employability Program—a work readiness program implemented by Plan Indonesia with support from the Standard Chartered Foundation—participated in mentoring sessions and discussions with mentors. They did not only get to understand the four financial topic but also discussed their current career paths with the mentors.

Zacky (22), a final-year student and participant of the Futuremakers YEP cybersecurity class, said the mentoring session was beneficial. “This mentoring is very important, especially for financial management as Gen Z (like me) may have just started working and have many (financial) needs,” said Zacky.

Meanwhile, Ajeng (24), a recent graduate and participant in the Futuremakers YEP social media marketing class, said the mentoring session reminded her of the importance of education regarding financial data protection.

“As Gen Z, we must educate parents or those who may be less tech-savvy, so they are more aware of the importance of data protection in digital financial systems,” said Ajeng.

After mentoring, participants will continue to participate in various Futuremakers YEP activities. In addition to training to strengthen their technical skills in IT, the 1,900 Futuremakers YEP participants will also have the opportunity to participate in various financial literacy sessions and job matching activities implemented by Plan Indonesia until 2027.
