Together for Children and Girls: MoU Signing Between Plan Indonesia and Jakarta Provincial Government
21 November 2024
On November 21, 2024, Yayasan Plan International Indonesia (Plan Indonesia) and the Jakarta Provincial Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that marks an important milestone in the effort to create a more inclusive and welcoming Jakarta for all. The main focus is to improve the welfare of children, girls, and young women in the city.
The Jakarta Government has set out a grand plan for the period 2024-2029, covering the strengthening of human resources, stunting prevention, gender equality, and the protection of vulnerable groups such as children and people with disabilities. The MoU integrates Plan Indonesia’s experience and expertise with the government’s development priorities, paving the way for relevant and impactful programs.
4 Focuses on the Collaboration
The MoU is designed to reach out to the community through various strategic initiatives, particularly in the following four areas:
- Education and health: Ensuring children and young women have better access to education and health services.
- Child protection: Creating safer communities for children to grow up in.
- Disaster and climate change response: Engaging communities in preparing for disasters and climate change.
- Youth economic empowerment: Providing digital economy and entrepreneurship training to open up more opportunities for the younger generation.
The collaboration between Plan Indonesia and the Jakarta Provincial Government does not stop at the planning stage. Together, they hope to create models and good practices that have real impact and can be applied in other areas. Starting from building an innovative child protection system to ensure every child is protected more effectively, to young women empowerment programs that provide relevant skills and access. The collaboration is also committed to strengthening gender equality, valuing the role of all parties, including young women, in building a more just and inclusive society.
This step is tangible evidence of a shared vision to create a better future for all, by engaging various parties in presenting sustainable solutions. Through this strategic partnership, Jakarta can develop into a city that is welcoming and full of opportunities for children, women and young people.
