Plan Indonesia and SalingJaga from Kitabisa Bring Equality Mission through Soccer for Equality

20 April 2025

Jakarta, 20 April 2025 – Football is not just a competition, but also a space to promote equality. Therefore, Yayasan Plan International Indonesia (Plan Indonesia) together with SalingJaga from Kitabisa Insurance held a mini soccer competition entitled Soccer for Equality to support the Girls Football programme, which opens opportunities for girls in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to get equal access to education.

A total of 28 clubs participated in four categories, Men Senior, Women Senior, Men Junior, and Women Junior, which took place on 11-13 April and 18-20 April 2025 at Urban Sports Dome, South Jakarta. By participating in Soccer for Equality, the players automatically donated and received protection in the form of SalingJaga Micro Accident Insurance from Kitabisa Insurance for a year.

NTT, one of the provinces with the lowest Human Development Index (HDI) in Indonesia, faces major challenges in access and quality of education, especially for girls. The average years of schooling in NTT in 2023 is only 8.15 years, below the national average. Child marriage and gender-based discrimination also hinder girls’ education in the province.

Executive Director of Plan Indonesia Dini Widiastuti said, Soccer for Equality brings the message of equality through football. The world of football can be a safe, inclusive and liberating space for all, including for girls.

‘Football is a universal language, which should be enjoyed by both men and women. We want to emphasise that everyone has the right to a space to play, a space to learn, and a space to dream. We really appreciate the enthusiasm of our partners, SalingJaga and Mini Soccer Super League, and of course the players and clubs participating in the Soccer for Equality competition in supporting this mission for equality,’ said Dini.

Kitabisa CMO Fahri Amirullah added, SalingJaga strongly supports this event because it has a good purpose and is in line with SalingJaga’s values. The reason is, participants who take part in this event, not only compete but also help girls in NTT.

So, Fahri continued, one form of SalingJaga’s support is shown through the provision of SalingJaga Micro Accident Insurance coverage for all participants competing in this Soccer for Equality event.

‘We at SalingJaga believe that gotong royong is the main strength of this nation. Through sports and public solidarity, we want to invite everyone to take part in the struggle to create equality,’ said Fahri.

For information, SalingJaga is a sharia life insurance programme from Kitabisa that promotes the spirit of help among members. To date, there are more than 100 thousand members who are members of SalingJaga. SalingJaga Micro Accident Insurance is a mutual aid programme for SalingJaga members in the event of an accident. When an accident occurs, members will receive compensation from the common fund.

All types of accidental accidents that cause members to die, physically injured, or disabled and need hospital treatment can be covered by SalingJaga Kecelakaan Mikro, and are not limited to traffic accidents, but can also be work accidents or during sports.

Not only that, as part of the competition, the team with the highest donation from each category will have the opportunity to compete directly with Women’s National Team Goalkeeper, Atin Rizky, and Indonesian National Team legend, Eka Ramdani in an exclusive match on 20 April 2025.

Not stopping on the field, the spirit of sharing is also transmitted through public fundraising. The public can support by donating through kitabisa.com/girlsfund. This campaign supports the Girls Football programme which encourages girls in NTT to not only practice on the field but also learn important skills such as leadership, social awareness, health management, and future job readiness.
