Launch of YES x InnovAItion Collaboration: Improving Youth Employment Readiness Through AI Literacy

31 July 2025

Jakarta, July 30th 2025 —The Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenpora RI) and Plan International Indonesia Foundation (Plan Indonesia) have officially launched a strategic collaboration that will run until 2027. This collaboration begins with a partnership titled YES x Innovation, aimed at enhancing artificial intelligence (AI) skills for 15,000 young people aged 18-29, or up to 35 years old for individuals with disabilities in Indonesia.

This collaboration addresses the challenge of 5.2 million unemployed youth aged 15-29 (BPS, 2025), as well as the need to produce 12 million digital talents by 2030 (Kemkomdigi, 2025). Plan Indonesia, through InnovAItion—part of the AI Opportunity Fund: Asia-Pacific, an initiative by AVPN supported by Google.org and the Asian Development Bank (ADB)—will work until 2026 to equip young job seekers (70% women, 3% people with disabilities) with generative AI skills, including vocational students, university students, and people with disabilities. This programme is further supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports through the YES initiative, which will connect young communities across Indonesia with access to InnovAItion training.

“We believe that this collaboration will be a driving force for digital literacy and AI among Indonesian youth. These skills are no longer an added advantage, but a key prerequisite for competing in the global workforce,” said Dr. Drs. Yohan, M.Si, Deputy for Youth Services at the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports.

“Young women and young people with disabilities are often marginalised in the digital transformation. Yet, young people are the pillars of an inclusive and resilient future. Through InnovAItion, we are committed to ensuring no young person is left behind, by providing relevant and accessible training,” explained Dini Widiastuti, Executive Director of Plan Indonesia.

The YES x InnovAItion collaboration is expected to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of quality education, decent work, and gender equality. This collaboration also serves as an open call to various stakeholders to join, expand the reach, and strengthen the impact of AI training across Indonesia. All training in this programme is accessible for free via the platform lms.kitakerja.id. For more information: www.plan-international.or.id.
