19 March 2025
Nagekeo, 19 March 2025 – Fulfillment of children’s and women’s rights remains a challenge in Nagekeo. Yayasan Plan International Indonesia (Plan Indonesia) through the Programme Implementation Area (PIA) Nagekeo initiated an audience between 14 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the Nagekeo District Government. This meeting is expected to strengthen partnerships and improve coordination in addressing child and women protection issues in the region.
In his remarks, Gonsalo Gratia Muga Saga, Deputy Regent of Nagekeo emphasized the importance of collaboration with various parties to support social protection programs.
“The government realizes that fulfilling the rights of children and women cannot be done by the government alone, but also requires the involvement of CSOs as strategic partners. This is due to budget constraints as a result of central government efficiency,” said Gonsalo.
This hearing resulted in three main strategic steps that are expected to produce concrete steps to be implemented immediately to strengthen cooperation in dealing with strategic issues in Nagekeo Regency. These steps include:
- Reactivation of the Joint Secretariat (Sekber) as a coordination center with operational space at the Bapelitbangda Office.
- The Joint Secretariat will also serve as a forum for collaboration in strengthening the role of the Regional Women and Children Protection Commission (KPPAD) and the Village Children Forum (Forades).
- In addition, the Joint Secretariat will support the Nagekeo Satu Data program to improve the effectiveness of data management and utilization in evidence-based policy planning.
Ida Ngurah, Program Director, Plan Indonesia, emphasized that closer coordination between CSOs and the government will create a broader and more sustainable impact for the protection of children and women in Nagekeo.
“Discussions between CSOs and Local Government are an important space to exchange information, evaluate programs, and design synergistic strategies to fulfill the rights of children and women. We are proud to initiate this hearing. Synergy through Joint Secretariat, KPPAD, and FAD has contributed well to community engagement, including children and women, and created sustainable impacts that support Local Government targets,” he said.
The activity facilitated by the Nagekeo Regency Development Planning, Research and Development Agency (BAPPELITBANGDA) took place in the office of the Deputy Regent of Nagekeo.
